📝 Brief Description of the Course:

This 1-day training aims to equip workers, engineers, safety officers, and supervisors with critical knowledge on electrical hazards, proper safety practices, and applicable laws and standards. The session includes key safety procedures for working with electrical tools, equipment, and systems in construction, industrial, and commercial settings. Participants will learn to identify risks, control hazards, and promote a culture of electrical safety in the workplace.


🎯 Learning Objectives:

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify common electrical hazards and understand their consequences.
  2. Apply basic principles of electrical safety to prevent accidents.
  3. Recognize safe practices in using electrical tools and equipment.
  4. Interpret key safety standards such as Philippine Electrical Code, DOLE OSH Standards, and NFPA 70E.
  5. Understand the importance and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for electrical work.
  6. Respond appropriately in case of electrical emergencies (e.g., shocks, burns, fires).

Session 1: Introduction to Electrical Safety

  • Importance of electrical safety
  • Common causes of electrical incidents
  • Types of electrical injuries (shock, arc flash, burns)

Session 2: Electrical Hazards in the Workplace

  • Energized vs. de-energized equipment
  • Overloaded circuits and exposed wiring
  • Hazardous environments (wet areas, confined spaces)

Session 3: Legal and Regulatory Standards

  • DOLE OSH Law (RA 11058, DO 198)
  • Philippine Electrical Code (PEC)
  • NFPA 70E overview
  • Employer and worker responsibilities

Session 4: Safe Work Practices

  • Lockout/Tagout procedures (LOTO)
  • Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs)
  • Inspection and maintenance protocols
  • Proper use of extension cords and portable tools

Session 5: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Electrical Work

  • Types of PPE: gloves, helmets, rubber mats, etc.
  • Arc-rated clothing and face shields
  • Inspection and limitations of PPE

Session 6: Emergency Response and First Aid

  • First response to electric shock and burns
  • Fire prevention and extinguisher use
  • Reporting procedures and emergency planning
