Asphalt Technology
DPWH-Aligned | 4 Days | 40 Hours | Accreditation-Ready Program
COURSE DESCRITPION
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of asphalt materials engineering, mix design principles, pavement construction techniques, and quality assurance practices applicable to road infrastructure projects. The program discusses the properties of asphalt binders, aggregates, and asphalt mixtures, including laboratory testing procedures and Marshall Mix Design methodology commonly used in pavement engineering.
Participants will learn the production process of asphalt mixtures, plant operations, transportation, paving, and compaction techniques required to achieve proper pavement performance. The course also covers common pavement failures, distress identification, maintenance methods, and implementation of QA/QC systems in accordance with DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways, Bridges, and Airports (Blue Book).
This training is designed to enhance the technical capability of engineers and construction practitioners involved in road construction, materials testing, project supervision, and quality control, and credited as part of the training requirements for Contractors’/Consultants’ Project Engineer (CCPE) accreditation.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Understand the engineering behavior of asphalt materials and mixtures.
- Perform and interpret asphalt laboratory tests.
- Apply DPWH Standard Specifications (Blue Book) for asphalt pavement works.
- Implement effective quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) systems.
- Diagnose pavement failures and recommend engineering solutions.
