Construction Methods and Techniques

(32-Hour CCPE Training Program)

Category A – Planning, Design, Construction Methods and Techniques (A.1.24)

To support engineers pursuing Regular Accreditation under the DPWH Certified Construction Project Engineer (CCPE) Program, J3 Trainers and Consultants, Inc. (J3TCI) offers a 32-Hour Specialized Training Program on Construction Methods and Techniques.

This program falls under Category A – Planning, Design, Construction Methods and Techniques as required under the CCPE training compliance framework.

The course provides engineers with practical knowledge and modern approaches in the execution of infrastructure projects, focusing on effective construction techniques, construction planning integration, and field implementation methods used in roadworks, bridge construction, flood control structures, and concrete works.

The 32-hour program is divided into four (4) modules of eight (8) hours each, covering critical infrastructure construction methodologies widely used in public works and private construction projects.

Upon completion of the four modules, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion – 32 Hours Construction Methods and Techniques, which may be used to comply with the training requirement for CCPE Regular Accreditation.

The training is facilitated by experienced construction professionals, engineers, and industry practitioners, ensuring that participants gain both technical knowledge and practical field-based insights.

Construction Methods and Techniques for Road Projects (8 Hours)

Course Description

This module covers the construction methodologies used in road development and highway infrastructure projects. Participants will learn about various techniques applied in roadworks including earthworks, subgrade preparation, pavement construction, and road safety integration.

The session also discusses the application of construction equipment, quality control procedures, and proper sequencing of road construction activities.

Learning Objectives

  • At the end of the module, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the stages of road construction project implementation
  • Identify construction methods for earthworks, subgrade, and pavement layers
  • Apply proper techniques in road embankment and compaction works
  • Understand equipment utilization in road construction operations
  • Implement proper construction sequencing to ensure project quality and efficiency

Methods and Techniques for Bridge Construction (8 Hours)

Course Description

This module introduces the construction techniques used in bridge projects, including foundation works, substructure construction, and superstructure erection methods. Participants will gain insights into the methods used in constructing pile foundations, piers, abutments, girders, and bridge decks.

The module also discusses the selection of appropriate construction approaches depending on site constraints, structural design, and construction safety requirements.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the module, participants will be able to:

  • Understand different bridge construction methods and sequencing
  • Identify construction techniques for bridge foundations and substructures
  • Apply best practices in bridge superstructure erection
  • Evaluate construction methods for safety, productivity, and structural stability
  • Understand construction coordination among design, planning, and field execution

Construction Methods and Techniques for Flood Control and Drainage Structures (8 Hours)

Course Description

This module focuses on construction techniques used in flood control systems and drainage infrastructure, which are essential components of public works and urban infrastructure development.

Participants will learn the construction methods applied in building drainage canals, culverts, flood control channels, revetments, and slope protection structures.

The module also discusses challenges related to hydraulic conditions, soil stability, and water management during construction.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify construction methods for flood control and drainage infrastructure
  • Understand construction techniques for culverts, canals, and river protection works
  • Apply proper sequencing in drainage structure installation
  • Address construction challenges related to water flow and soil stability
  • Implement construction practices that improve durability and structural performance

Methods and Techniques in Concreting (8 Hours)

Course Description

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in infrastructure and building projects. This module focuses on the proper construction techniques involved in concrete works, including batching, mixing, transporting, placing, finishing, and curing of concrete.

Participants will learn best practices in achieving quality concrete structures, preventing common construction defects, and ensuring compliance with standard construction specifications.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the module, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the proper procedures in concrete production and placement
  • Apply correct methods for formwork installation and reinforcement placement
  • Identify common issues affecting concrete quality and structural performance
  • Implement best practices in concrete curing and finishing techniques
  • Improve construction quality through proper concrete work management

Certification

Participants who complete the four modules will receive:

Certificate of Completion for 32 Hours – Construction Methods and Techniques

This certificate may be used as part of the training compliance requirement for CCPE Regular Accreditation under Category A – Planning, Design, Construction Methods and Techniques.
