Module 10. Improvements

Introduction

The goal of integrating an energy management system to the business operation of an organization or establishment is to set energy objectives and targets to continually improvement energy performance. The term “continually” implies the need to ensure effective measurable improvements over time.

This indicates sustainability rather than one-time improvement of decreasing energy demand and energy bills.

This module covers 3 short sessions on introducing approaches to help achieve the goal of continual improvement as demonstrated by the concept of Plan-Do-Check-Act framework in Module 4 (Energy Management System Framework): Corrective Actions, Energy Audits and Measurement and Verification.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this module, participants are able to:

  • Explain the importance of corrective actions;
  • Discuss the value of energy audits to identify opportunities to improve energy performance;
  • Describe energy use and energy consumption to identify, quantify and report opportunities; and
  • Explain the importance of setting-up a method of measurement and verification to determine improvement of energy performance.
